Belief Statement

1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. (I Thessalonians 2:13; II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:20 21)

2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; John 1:1; 1:14; 10:30; II Corinthians 13:14.)

3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present intercessory work for believers, and in His pre-tribulational, premillennial return in power and glory. (Luke 1:35; John 1:1,2; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 3:24-25; 8:34; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Hebrews 7:25; 9:14, 24; I Peter 1:3-5; and I Peter 2:24)

4. We believe lost and sinful man is saved only by faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is possible only by the regenerating act of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 3:22-26; Ephesians 2:12-13; Titus 3:5)

5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (John 16:8-11; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:12-14; II Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1:13-14)

6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved, unto the resurrection of life; and they that are lost, unto the resurrection of damnation. (Matthew 25:46; John 11:25-26; I Corinthians 15:53-54; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:4-6; 20:11-15)

7. We believe that the Church is composed of all those who truly believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. The local church is an earthly manifestation of this universal Church functioning under the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18 20; Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:25-27; I Corinthians 12:12-14)

8. Ordinances – We believe that Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only two ordinances set forth by God for the church age, and are to be observed by all believers.

a. Baptism – We believe that water baptism is a scriptural ordinance of the church during this age to be administered only after salvation. As to its purpose, we believe that it should be a public testimony of the individual that they have trusted Christ as Savior.

Concerning its meaning, we believe that it is the outward symbol of the baptism of the Holy Spirit which is an inward work whereby each believer is inseparably joined to the body of Christ which is the Church.

Concerning the mode, we believe that immersion in water “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” is the only mode which suits this relationship between water and Spirit baptism. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:36-39; 9:18; 18:8; Ephesians 4:5)

b. The Lord’s Supper – We believe that the Lord’s Supper is for believers and is a memorial testimony of the Church which was instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ.  It is to be observed until His return as a sacred, symbolic and Scriptural means of remembering His death for our sins.  Church membership is not required to participate.  (Matthew 26:26-30; I Corinthians 11:17-34)

9. The Eternal Security and Assurance of Believers.

a. We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.  (John 6:37-40: 10:27-30; Romans 8:1; Romans 36 39; I Corinthians 1:3-8; I Peter 1:5)

b. We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word; which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as the occasion to the flesh. (Romans 13:13 14; Galatians 5:13; Titus 2:11 15)

10. Sexuality and Marriage

a. We believe in the equal dignity and worth of all humanity. We believe God created humanity, male and female, in His image. These two genders are distinct, immutable, and complementary and reflect the nature and character of God in humanity (Genesis 1:26-27). The rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of God’s image within one’s self.

b. We believe God ordained marriage to take place between one man (male) and one woman (female) in a single and exclusive union (Genesis 2:18-25). God designed the gift of sexual intimacy to be expressed solely within this marriage (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4). We believe any expression of sexual intimacy outside this understanding of marriage is sexual immorality, and thus sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
